It wasn’t raining. Nowhere was on fire, which was nice because there have been two major fires in two days and the air quality has not been good. Okay, there wasn’t much in the way of daylight and the Dorset wind was doing its trick of being hyper-efficient by simultaneously blowing in my face and down the back of my neck, but we could walk down to the Fisherman’s Haven and enjoy watching the Brent Geese and the grouchy egret and a gorgeous pied wagtail. Red breasted robins competed for the ‘I belong on a Christmas card’ competition and crows foraged for clams and then dropped them on the concrete to open them. A pair of inventive turnstones decided to explore an unattended fishing boat and came up with a good haul and the cormorants had their wings outstretched to dry.
Yes, it was cold, but it was so worth it and it was so lovely to come home for frothy coffee and home made mincemeat brownies which are all gooey and sticky and rich. We settled down to watch some more of the drone Christmas displays on YouTube while we defrosted because we’re really into these at the moment. Have a look here if you fancy a treat
https://skyelementsdrones.com/ I particularly like the Nutcracker and what happens when good gingerbread men go bad! What can I say? Everyone ought to be allowed to be a child at Christmas and it gets me in a happy mood.
So, today’s picture is a very grumpy egret, because who could give the Grinch for his money. Have fun, stay safe and we’ll catch up on Wednesday
